Gangster Squad

My first shoot of the new year, 2014. Today we did a shoot regarding the movie, "Gangster Squad". Trisha suggested it as she saw pictures of Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling (ermehgerd ryan gosling) as one of the casts in the movie. There were a few scenes in the movie that involved a bar, and so happened that Trisha had a mini bar at the back of her house.

Now, the word gangster doesn't mean that you wear baggy clothes, saggy pants, and a snapback, and you call yourself a gangster. No. That's called being an a douchebag. The actual gangsters were back in 1940s where they actually did some tough shit. Yeah.

Anyway, the shoot was a formal shoot so I lent Trisha my dress. Seth borrowed a coat from his cousin. After everything was prepared, it was time to get into action :)

The mini bar was a great background for the theme of the shoot (tenkiu trisha). Trisha took a glass with a mixture of beer and water (what) to make it look more real. The shoot was great, but there were some shots where Seth's face was really bright because of bad lighting control (pfft). I made a mistake during the shoot, which is the focus of the picture. I focused on the background instead of the model that it made some pictures blurry. However, I still had a few clear shots, which is good.

Here are my best/favourite shots today:

I love this one :)

As the theme of the shoot was 1940-ish, I took some black and white pictures. Don't they look charming together? :3

I had a great time doing this shoot, it was something different. I hope to have more shoots like this this year. A different model, maybe :)

Annual Dinner 2013

Annual Dinner was a great night. I don't have much to talk about it 'cause I wasn't the one having the most fun :p I was only a photographer. But if you ask someone else about it they would probably tell you everything. I had some other good shots, but this one was my favourite:

This is Daniel. He's a very good beatboxer, you guys should see him perform.

Bubbles and Gypsy Crossover

13th December 2013, Trisha, Damien and I went on a shoot again. We had a crossover shoot, a gypsy shoot compiled with bubbles. The shoot was done by the lakeside. I had bubble soap and Damien bought extra. Trisha brought her scarf and her "flower crown" (however you call it).

We gathered at Mcdonald's first to have some lunch, can't get on a shoot when you're hungry, right? The lakeside just built a bridge recently so we got the bridge for a good use. Damien helped to blow the bubbles, but it was harder than we thought. The bubbles popped very quickly and I couldn't take shots of the bubbles on time, and when I already took a shot, only a few bubbles were in the shot. But it looked pretty okay, and it was pretty satisfying.

Here's my best shots without the bubbles:

Then we walked a little further to a small park where me and Damien used to call the "secret hideout" (haha).

We tried the bubbles again and this time the shot was very satisfying. Trisha and I literally squealed when I took the shot :p

After that, we went to hang out and Chatime and gossip. Good times.

Give Me Love

I'm sure there are tons of Ed Sheeran fans out there, and me and Trisha are one of them. Trisha watched one of Ed Sheeran's music videos, "Give Me Love". The music video felt inspiring for one of our shoots and Trisha insists on having a shoot like the music video. And we did :)

Trisha suggested we have the shoot on top of a roof. We can barely find a proper roof but Seth helped us out by finding this place, which is perfect. So on that day, I went to meet up with Trisha and Seth drove us there. Then we met up with Damien.

The place was also abandoned so it was very quiet, and very creepy. We went up to the highest floor and and had to climb a little to get to the top. I was afraid of heights so I was squealing a little (haha, Trisha too pfft). When we made it on top, Trisha wore her angel wings and took out the bow and arrows that we handmade the day before. The music video involved love, so we added a little romance into the shoot.

The music video deals with the idea of Cupid. Cupid is seen watching over couples, she is then seen using her bow and arrows to ignite people's passion for each other. So after watching many human intimate displays through her work, Cupid becomes overwhelmed with the need to find someone of her own to love and for them to love her in return. She tries to remove her wings, pulling a feather from her back (reminiscent of a scene in Black Swan) and toys with one of her arrows. The end of the video echoes the beginning, a cop is seen going into a crime scene which turns out to be Cupid's lair. It is revealed that she stabbed herself with her own arrow and is seemingly dead. However, her arrows are not lethal, they just make you fall in love, so when the cop leans in for a closer look, the love effect of the arrow makes her wake up, and it is implied that she will fall in love with him since he's the first person she sees upon waking.

Yes, I found that description on Wikipedia.

These are my best/favourite shots:

And this one was one of my favourites :3

After that, we climbed back down and went into the building. It was surprisingly big, as there were a lot of rooms. Then we found this big, round window.

After that, we had some shots by the balcony. Gotta say, Seth is very photogenic (haha).

We would definitely revisit the place again for other photoshoot ideas.

Alice in Wonderland

August 14 2013, me, Damien, Trisha and Andrew had an "Alice in Wonderland" shoot. The shoot was done  outside Trisha's house, as there was a small area for us to shoot on.

Before the shoot began, we had to prepare props and such for the shoot. Damien was the Mad Hatter, so I painted his face white and some touches at the bottom of his eyes. His eyebrows were painted orange. He looked weird, but mad (see what I did there). Andrew was Cheshire the cat, so I painted the creepy smile of the cat around Andrew's mouth. I found out how to paint it online, and it looked pretty well. Last, Trisha was Alice.

We set up a table outside Trisha's house and put tablecloth over it. Then we put a few kinds of teapots and cups, just like the tea party in the Wonderland story. We also had some cakes, some cupcakes that we bought in stores, but those would do just fine. A day before the shoot, we painted a picture of the white rabbit on a piece of cardboard as a prop for the shoot, and we also painted some arrows that shows the way to Wonderland. We had some shots based on the movie, and some were from our own ideas. These are my best/favourite shots:

The Mad Hatter.

Alice.

The cake that makes you grow bigger.

Cheshire the cat.

We had fun doing this shoot, and we even did a Harlem Shake video. Oh wait, I think that was suppose to be secret.

Bohemian

My second shoot with Trisha :) This time with a collaboration with Seth's twin cousins. We did the shoot by the lakeside again. We gathered by the lakeside while waiting for Seth and his cousins. While waiting, we had some Mcdonalds' (pfft).

Seth and his cousins arrived and we began with our shoot. There was this really nice tree with moss growing on its bark, so we decided to use the tree in the composition. The shoot was satisfying, I had some nice shots, but I didn't post any shots of the twins (sorry).

I had some people to help me and Trisha out in the shoot, which is Damien and Andrew, Trisha's younger brother.

These were my best/favourite shots:

Oh and I saw this worm hanging from the tree, and I just had to take a few shots. It was rather blurry, as it was hard to focus because of the size of the worm. It looked like it was twerking. Work it, wormy. Work it (whut).

Most of the posts I blogged are rather short, because I forgot almost the things I went through months ago, and I usually don't type much. But give me time, and once I adapt to blogging, you guys will probably see something more interesting.

Sports Day 2013

Alright so other than photoshoots, I was the school photographer in SMK Kota Kemuning. On June 15 2013, my school had sports day.

Long story short, it was sports day, runners, marching teams, medals, you name it.

They had balloons.

Isabel :)

Sheryl :)

The guy in the blue shirt was my classmate, Syahmie :)

Amar :)

Xheng Kheat and Gabriel :)

Daniel :)

Our mighty ex-student in the school, and also the magnificent beatboxer, Aaron :)

You guys would be thinking, these shots barely showed the sports day spirit, but I like taking portraits (ahaha).

In the end, the Yellow House won. I was proud to say that I'm a Yellow House member :')

Balloons, Lights, and Red Riding Hood

On June 4th 2013, I had a new model to work with, Trisha Anne Joseph :3 Damien happened to be really close with her and since she does shoots too, why not we do a collaboration :)

We had a theme set, we had our plan ready, and we set a date. The theme involved balloons and Christmas lights. Damien bought a packet of balloons and I brought my Christmas lights. The shoot was done in Trisha's room.

When blowing the balloons for the shoot, we had some small talk, and we got along pretty well. Turned out that Trisha is a really friendly person (im no kidding, treesha). After blowing the balloons, we scattered them around Trisha while she's sitting on the bed, and put Christmas lights over Trisha's body. I have to say, it was a rather random theme, but in my opinion, it turned out very pretty. Now I'm not saying Amery wasn't a good model, but Trisha was rather spontaneous when she's in a shoot. She knows what to do and how to act like a model. I ain't Tyra Banks but this is just an opinion (no hate). Among all, this was my best/favourite shot:

After that, we decided we go more random and went to put the balloons in the bathtub, as sometimes photoshoots can make no sense (haha). This was my best shot, and it turned out pretty well :)

After that, we left the balloons aside and we went outside. Trisha's housing area has a public hall, and behind that public hall there's an empty lot, so we had a "Dark Red Riding Hood" themed shoot. The other shots wasn't very satisfying for me, not because of Trisha, but because of the lighting. But I did have one shot that I find nice:

After finishing the shoots, we went to have some fun by the lakeside, and we took some random shots. It was nice having a shoot with a new model, and I was looking forward to have more shoots with Trisha :)

Fabulous

Yeah. Fabulous. I couldn't think of a better title (haha).

This shoot was done in March 2013. Partner in crime, Damien. Model, Amery. Location was the same, one of the parking lot buildings. As we like the place, we thought why not we go there for another shoot :)

My attempt in this shoot was suppose to be a clone project, meaning two or three same person at once. It didn't turn out that great as I don't have a good software for editing and I didn't have sufficient experience to do such a project. But when we went on top of the building, it was an open surface, so we could see the sky. As Damien was always very creative and imaginative, he thought that jump shots would fit the scenery, so this was my best jump shot :)

And in my own ideas, I decided to have some danceology shots, inspired by the one and only, Shawn Welling. The photo turned out better than expected, and this was my best shot.

I was rather satisfied with the photos I took, it turned out very good. It may not be the clone project I planned in the first place, but nothing stops imagination :) Hope you guys like it.

Guardian Angel

My second photoshoot, with my partner in crime, Damien, and the same awesome model, Amery Ho :) The shoot was called "Guardian Angel". As obvious as it is, there has to be angel wings. 'Cause, you know, it's a guardian angel (duh).

The wings were handmade, as I managed to get some DIY research from the wonderful internet. I had some cardboard and some other arts and crafts materials, and in a few days time, I managed to get it done. It was probably the most hard working moment I ever had (pfft).

For Kota Kemuning residents, as you guys may know, there are a few parking lot buildings. Built, but never actually used. But it brought a benefit to us because Damien suggested that we have our shoot done in one of the parking lot buildings, as it would look different. So we gathered, and walked over to one of the buildings. We were a little afraid at first, because there were car wash services on the ground floor, and they were staring at us as we go to the upper floors. We weren't sure if we were allowed to go up, but there weren't any sign that says "No Enter", and it was a parking lot, anybody can park their car above. So we went up anyway.

Second floor, as we looked around, it was a filthy and abandoned environment. Filthy, but nice, in a way. As I fished out my DIY angel wings and put it on Amery, it looked pretty okay, except the fact that it looked crooked (it was first attempt to ever do DIY so yeah). But ignoring all that, we had some good shots, and it was a great experience. When I got home, I did a little editing, and this was my best shot :)

This shoot was done in December 2012, and my laptop had a bug problem at that time, so all my files were gone (cries), even my "Guardian Angel" file. Fortunately, I still have this photo because I uploaded this photo on Facebook some time ago, so I just took it from there (thank God). I would be glad to upload more of them, but I only have one photo left.

This photo is to indicate that no matter what happens, do not ever have the thought of committing suicide, as it brings no happy ending. Do not risk your life away, as an angel will always be there by your side, guiding you.

Hope you guys like it :)

More posts to come.

My First Photoshoot

It was my first photoshoot. I've had taken pictures for school events but not actually taking pictures of a model. This photoshoot was done around 2012, if I recall. Me and my best friend, Damien, planned this thing out because we wanted to take part in an Instagram competition, something like that (haha). We had a problem finding a model that time, but there was a model we never actually though of before, and that's how we chose one of our closest friends, Amery Ho :3

The location was near my housing area, which is a lakeside. There isn't an actual pathway to where we were at, so we called it our "secret hideout", but now they build the pathway to go there easier so it's not really a secret hideout anymore (bummer).

Amery had her fake rose, but one prop can make a picture beautiful already. We also had some other props like paint and such but among all, this was my best and favourite shot. Hope you guys like it. After my first photoshoot, I was sure what I want to become in the future, a professional photographer. No matter if I'm a photojournalist, a wedding photographer, or a portrait photographer, as long as I'm doing something I love, everything I do, I would be happy.

So this was my best shot :)
